Aubrac is a rustic French beef breed from the high plateau of the Massif Central. It is valued for fertility, longevity and the ability to thrive on pasture, and its calves are a small but distinct segment.
Type and origin
The breed is named after the Aubrac plateau in southern France. Animals are wheat to light-grey, with dark rims around the eyes and muzzle and lyre-shaped horns. The cows are known for fertility and calving ease, and the breed copes with harsh summer pastures and cold winters.
Typical use
Aubrac calves are bought for rearing on forage and for finishing in systems that value quality over speed. Heifers can join suckler herds. The breed is not extreme in muscling, so it suits farms that prioritise hardiness and low-input management.
Hardy breeds are bought on reliability. A buyer who has received one good, even lot is likely to ask for the next, so photographs, tag numbers and an honest description of the herd tend to matter more here than in the high-volume breeds.
What we buy
We consider Aubrac and Aubrac-cross calves for rearing and finishing. Please describe the lot with sex, age, weight, horn status and feeding history. Terms are agreed per lot. Our weight bands are 52–90 kg for dairy calves, 110–150 kg for starter calves and 220–350 kg for weaned or stocker calves, the last for beef breeds only. Put exact weights, ages and ear-tag numbers in your offer.
Where the calves come from
Supply is limited and mostly from southern and central France. See our France supplier page and selling French calves to Poland.
Offering a Aubrac lot
The most useful first message is short and complete: country and region, breed and cross, number of head, sex split, age and weight range, feeding and health history, ear-tag numbers, the documents available and the week you can load. We buy for rearing and finishing farms in Poland, and we start with a trial lot where a new supplier is involved. Payment and trial terms are agreed with each supplier. Read how we buy for price basis, transport and minimum lots, then send your offer through the supplier form or the partner page. You can also write to biuro@eurocieleta.pl or call +48 691 900 728.
